About These Stories (brief overview)
A good bud of mine, knowing of my enthusiasm for cinema, once gifted me with a copy of iconic filmmaker Akira Kurosawa’s autobiography. Said book carries a title that I admire, for its wit and simplicity: he called it, Something Like an Autobiography. Until now, I haven’t attempted to write about myself, here at Medium, and can only dream of duplicating the creative genius of a Kurosawa, but despite all that, here is ‘Something like the About Me sketch’ that I have seen on other contributors’ pages. (Thanks for the book, Gary!)
This is also something of a milestone for me on this site. I have posted a lot of stories in my three years here. Many of my efforts here are in the fantasy and science-fiction genres. I have experimented with writing light comedy, Gothic/supernatural horror, mild dramas, even a Western yarn, involving… well, my point is, up until now, I have worked in fictional genre materials — now I enter into uncharted territory: This is my first non-fiction piece (aside from posting comments on other authors’ works) that I have worked up for this medium (pun intended, or at least, logical).
What I have written: Almost a hundred stories (more than that, for those of you who read this in coming months) set in various fictional genres. About half of them are self-contained, one-and-done works. “Stand-Alone” pieces can be in fantastic genres, but…
